People are simply awestruck when they first see my Demorrow marimba. They say that it is the most beautiful instrument they have ever seen. Then they hear it…and are speechless! Doug builds marimbas with an attention to detail, craftsmanship and artistry that is inspiring. He built this five and half octave marimba (starting at the “G”, two and a half octaves below middle “C”) for me back in 1998. This one of a kind instrument has been featured in concerts and recordings and is a pure joy to play.

Doug is a perfectionist who is unwilling to compromise on his commitment to build the very best instruments that are available. I know many other percussionists who own his instruments and share my appreciation of Doug’s incredible skill. His instruments are constantly compared to the violins made by Antonio Stradavari and are played by virtuoso soloists, and in conservatories and ensembles around the world.
